86 Corn Street, Witney Oxfordshire OX28 6BN

Special Live Masterclasses at 3pm.

Saturday May 30, “75 years surrounded by beautiful Antiques – a life in the trade”

Saturday June 6, “Georgian Forgery, Mrs. Rudd and the Perreau Boys”.

Saturday June 13 “Marquetry to Metamorphic – a journey through two centuries”.

For 75 years Harvey’s Antiques have been dealing in fine English Antique Furniture from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. To celebrate this anniversary and their 30 years in Witney Oxfordshire, David Harvey has put together a special selection of items to illustrate their pathway and passion. From Chalk Farm and Bond Street in London to a charming Cotswold Townhouse it has been a voyage of passion. This catalogue contains a selection of the many pieces which will be on show during the exhibition.

This will be the 50th in-house exhibition David has curated since 1978. Showing early oak pieces from the middle years of the 17th century to William and Mary Marquetry and covering the reigns of 11 monarchs up to that of Queen Victoria, Harveys will have on show a selection of different woods, styles and intriguing metamorphic pieces. Many of the examples have been identified as being by specific makers because they are stamped or signed and illustrated in designs published by them.

We are lucky here in Britain that so much of our culture is still available, and the antique dealers are to be commended for their recycling of two and three hundred year old pieces to give a further life for a century or more. Harvey’s are delighted to have as part of their exhibition several items which they have handled previously.

During the exhibition, David Harvey will be giving a series of Masterclass talks on a variety of related subjects.
