Description
Ming blue and white plate made for the Japanese market in the 17th century at the kilns at Jingdezhen during the reign of the Emperor Tianqi (1321-1627)
The painting to the inside showing a scholar with an attendant overlooking a mountainous rocky river landscape with a pyramid fence . the edge of the plate is decorated with a crenelated style design.
Ko-sometsuke was made for some much needed income for the decaying Ming Dynasty This era often referred to as the Transitional period
The plate was exhibited by T Edo Inouye and Son number 61
