In 1955 he was called up for National Service and spent most of his time in Singapore, where he taught English at the Army School of Education and Art at the British Council. He settled in London and worked for the Saxon Artists illustrators’ agency and taught part time at St Martin’s School of Art. A prolific illustrator, he most notably contributed to the BBC, Reader’s Digest, Radio Times and Punch.
