Early 18th Century Oak Chest on Stand

Offered by: Prichard Antiques
Description
A fine early Georgian Chest on Stand. Combining the strength of oak with a delicacy of design, it is a piece that calls for light. Elegant houses built in this period were exploiting the themes of light and space, with large windows and rooms. This Chest, in 2 pieces, has pine lined drawers that sit within a moulded framework. The base has square cut cabriole legs to the front, that are mirrored in the shaped back legs. A change of handles took place about 1790-1800, when the classic swan neck handles were fashionable. In lovely condition, this is a piece of oak furniture with timeless elegance.
