| A quite stunning and truly charismatic early 17th Century Spanish Walnut Vargueno |
The solid walnut carcase rests on five magnificently carved feet and is lifted by original metalwork handles; the drawfronts, including the hidden ones, and the arcaded door are all excellently carved and inlaid and have attached ivory pillasters. A wonderful mature colour and fine patina.
The Vargueno rests on a period 17th Century Spanish Walnut Table with a thick top above two delightful supports and fine decorative ironwork cross-stretchers. With corresponding mature colour and patina.
PROVENANCE: By repute this vargueno and table were owned by General Narbaez of Granada – at the end of the 18th or beginning of the 19th Centuries. |
