Description / Expertise
A very good set of eight Regency mahogany and brass inlaid dining chairs comprising seven side chairs and one carver, each with a rope twist top rail and centre rail seperated with a brass inlaid splat, the uprights and sabred legs all of moulded section, the seat rails with brass front detail and ebony panels inlaid, the carver with scrolling moulded arms.
N.B. This model of chair with the double rope or cable twist, always a symbol of naval supremacy, is often called a Trafalgar Chair and is the model of chair ordered by Admiral Horatio Nelson for his home before his death at the Battle of Trafalgar 21st. October 1805.
