Christopher Clarke (Antiques) LimitedGun Metal Campaign Candlesticks (c. 1800 to c. 1855 England)
Description / Expertise Made of gun metal as opposed to brass, these Brighton Bun travelling candlesticks are made in three parts to give a higher column. As can be seen the seamed sconces unscrew from the central section of the column. In order that the two sconces are always fitted to the correct column they are fitted with a different width of screw. The undersides of the bowls are both stamped with a 0 and what may be the letter N. The undersides of the bowls also show the evidence of their imperfect casting with a number of blow holes plugged with brass at the time of manufacture. Pricegbp 820.00 (Pound Sterling)
