Description / Expertise

Vase. Pottery vase in the Art Nouveau style by unknown maker. Probably of Belgium origin but of unusual design. Very similar to a Wardle & Co pot,`Hadcote`, designed by Frederick Rhead for liberty & Co. The body colour a deep mottled blue/grey with incised verticle lines of plant stems and applied ceramic patches to represent flower heads and leaves touched in yellow. The design fits the elongated double gourd body shape well.
