A pitch pine Sauna bath cabinet with patent external copper heater. The cabinet bears the makers plate Ellis & Co. Ltd., Patentees and Manufacturers. The bath is designed so that the height of the seat can be adjusted. The front of the cabinet opens to allow entry and the user sits with his or her head outside the cabinet. Two flaps at the front of the cabinet allow hands to be extended to enable the occupier to read a book whilst enjoying the bath. The sauna has an associated copper methylated spirit lamp by J. Foot & Son Ltd. of London. The heater comprises of a cylindrical air or liquid compartment with an opening on the top. There is a tightly fitting domed top, to which a right-angled tube and a tapered extension are attached. This acts as a transmission duct for the heated air to pass into the cabinet. Underneath this compartment is a separate three-wick methylated spirit lamp. This device can provide either hot dry air for a Turkish bath or, using the water container, steam for a plain or medicated vapour bath.
