Exquisite, unusual and Rare Tea Caddy in the shape of a Wine Barrel

Description / Expertise

Exquisite and unusual Tea Caddy in the shape of a Wine Barrel with ebonised strapping. The escutcheon, lock and hinge are all made of iron. The key to the caddy is housed in the tap.

The interior of this rare Barrel Tea Caddy appears to have never been used, or it possibly housed another container, for it's as fresh as the day it was made!

This Tea Caddy is from the same family as the more familiar fruit-shaped examples, such as pears, apples and melons and has the same mottled green and black decoration.
This item is mounted on a stand (which was made at a later date to the tea caddy).

The Caddy has a fully working lock & comes with its original key.
