Description / Expertise

The walnut brass dial 8 day longcase clock by Richard Lewis of Wincanton is of slender elegant proportions and retains a warm golden colour. The 5 pillar movement strikes the hour on a bell and is mounted on a rare 11” brass dial with a silver chapter ring and brass spandrels to the matted brass centre, signed "Rich Lewis Wincanton".

Richard Lewis is listed as working in Wincanton in 1764, and is recorded in 'Somerset Clockmakers' by Bellchambers as “attended to the town clock at 21 shillings per annum and put in a new ting tang for £7 17s and 3d."

The price includes delivery and setting up in your home with a 12 month guarantee on the movement from date of purchase.
