Description / Expertise
A wonderful quality George III Mahogany and Brass Bound Oval Cellarette/Jardiniere, the lead lined body with double brass bandings and the original ornate Lion’s Mask Handles, the stand with a cross banded frieze raised on four square tapered splayed legs with corner brackets.
Attribution:
This piece has the identical handles as on the Wine Cooler made by Gillows in 1774 for Williams Hassell of Dalemain, Penrith and the Pair of Vases and Pedestals ordered by the Bell family at Thirsk Hall, Yorkshire by Gillows and also dating to the 1770s to say nothing of the Pair of Vases and Pedestals made by Gillows for the Welds at Stoneyhurst, Lancashire.
