Description / Expertise
Brighton Bun Campaign Travel Candlesticks
Brighton Bun Candlesticks can be traced back to the 18th century but the concept was so good that they were still being made in the early 20th century, although the quality and materials used had changed. This pair of cast brass, Brighton Bun travel candlesticks are a good large size, with the dish diameter nearly an inch larger than others comparable. When not in use the two sconces are unscrewed from their drip pan, dish base. They are then placed into one of the pans and the two are screwed together to form a donut shaped case, with the scones stored in the middle. This pair stand out for their size and the moulding to the rim of the dishes; the sconces are of a common shape. A very good example of an early to mid 19th century pair.
