An English bracket clock by John Hughes c1800 (c. 1800 England)

The clock has been restored and is guaranteed for 12 months.

An English mahogany bracket clock with 8” round white dial, signed on the backplate John Hughes 1801. The number 1801 could either be a serial number, or more probably in this case a date.

The clock strikes the hours on a bell and has pull repeat. The 8 day 5 pillar movement has an anchor escapement and edge engraving to the backplate.

The mahogany veneered case of good colour, has scale pattern frets to the front and sides, brass edging to the front door and bracket feet.

The case, with single pad top, is 17½ inches high including the handle.
