Description / Expertise

A scientific barometer on the Fortin principle signed on the silvered scale J.B. Dancer, Optician, Manchester No. 282. The instrument has a black painted tube with a thermometer mounted on the front. The barometer scale reads from 27 to 32.5 inches of mercury, the thermometer scale from 25 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

The instrument is mounted on a mahogany backboard with white reflectors to improve reading accuracy. Backboard size 44 inches x 5½ inches.
