A good French giant striking carriage clock by Drocourt, in a re-gilded gorge pattern case.
The clock has a platform lever escapement, an alarm feature and strikes the hours and half hours on a gong.
The enamel dial has a hairline crack to the top right-hand corner.
The movement backplate has the Drocourt stamp and is engraved with Drocourt’s serial number 9877 and also for the English retailer D.C. Rait & Sons goldsmiths to the queen.
The dial is also indistinctly marked with the retailer’s name, D.C. Rait & Sons Paris.
Height, including handle 10 inches.
The Drocourt serial number is repeated underneath the case.
Drocourt is one of the most respected French makers of carriage clocks, his clocks are always of high quality.
